The biggest fashion trends for AW24

We call it: The era of quiet luxury is finally over. This season's runway was full of fun, maximalist expressions, ranging from print clashes and color saturation to theatrical silhouettes and playful textures. Would you like to know more? These are the AW24 you should remember:

1. Leopard print

It's official that the Mob Wife aesthetic is here to stay – or at least the signature print. From dresses to sweaters, scarves to shoes, leopard spots were seen everywhere on the AW24 runway. This trend signals a (vocal) move away from quiet luxury and seems to be all about maximalist impact; Think all-over prints, wide puffed sleeves and sculptural skirts. This is for the unapologetically loud dressers who like to add a playful element to their wardrobe.

2. Padded hips

A slightly more surprising (but no less welcome) trend on the runway this season was sculptural skirt silhouettes – or “padded hips”. We're not talking about the type of upholstery that creates voluptuous curves; Think more about the dramatic, flared hips created by the use of crinolines, cages and petticoats. From Tudor-style long dresses to billowing mini dresses to sculptural reinterpretations of the peplum, your choice of silhouette this season is as theatrical as it gets.

3. Ticklish textures

Playfulness in all shapes and styles was also key to several AW24 trends – particularly related to texture. Designers were much bolder when it came to playing with textured surfaces this season, with many choosing to build these elements into large, sculptural shapes. The most extreme cases involved large coats made of grass, large loops of rope, and hair (yes, really). Although it may not seem particularly portable at first glance, we have may Watch this approach to structural embellishment break into mainstream fashion on a reduced scale. Maybe an oversized knit sweater or a statement jacket?

4. Spicy orange

As we move around the color wheel, we're temporarily saying goodbye to red in favor of its (slightly) milder cousin, orange. As one of the season's emerging statement hues, we can understand why orange will be so popular – it is fall after all – but designers seem to be taking the trend a step further by introducing more texture to add depth to the palette to lend . The runway used fringe, velvet, metallic fabrics, embroidery and quilting to highlight orange tones and add a seasonal warmth to the fashion landscape.

5. Horse Girl Aesthetic

Now we think Beyoncé might have something to do with it. While she had not yet been released Cowboy Carter As Fashion Week began to reach the masses, the singer has been fanning the flames of the country fashion trend for some time now — and designers have taken notice. The great Wild West is on the runway this season, with everything from double denim to cowboy hats and boots to leather chaps and horse motifs making a major appearance. Does this count as country? Renaissance?

6. Lace tights

While bare legs are out of the question for many of us in winter, designers have been working diligently to overcome the fear of cold (and probably pale) pins for AW24. The solution in question? Lace tights. A holdover from the gothic revival in 2023, this reinterpretation of the trend includes lace tights in a variety of hues (the most popular being red, black and white) and stuffed patterns in a variety of sizes – from delicate, evenly spaced floral patterns to large swoops of vines and Blossoms.

7. Opera gloves

Speaking of theatrics: this season the opera glove returns. Did it ever leave the fashion scene? Some would say “no,” but it’s certainly a much louder accessory when it comes to AW24. The designers have really deepened their approach to the classic opera glove, experimenting with new colors and materials – from shiny leather to Bridgerton-like organza – and silhouettes – we're talking balloon sleeves to arm warmers and everything in between – to really make them a statement accessory.

8. Transparent flowers

We've seen time and time again that florals aren't just for spring—and to prove it, the designers at AW24 took us one step further by pairing them with one of the season's most consistent recurring trends: sheer silhouettes . Moody floral patterns are given a sexy appeal by strategically placed blooms on otherwise sheer fabrics, combined with glittering sequins and luxurious silk for a fun and playful look. This AW24 trend will be in high demand during the party season.

9. Mercury

Metallic colors are another recurring trend for fall/winter 2024 – with silver once again leading the way. But while SS24 is more concerned with wearable glitter and sequins, this season designers have returned to the silver partywear scene. However, this time there is a new focus on mini dresses and elegant tailoring; Think “tinfoil” suits, chainmail dresses and sequined co-ords.

10. Green light

Another statement color approved by designers this season is green. While no central hue has been established yet, designers seem to agree that green – whether neon, pastel, mint or forest – is quickly becoming a popular base tone. It makes sense though; It sits opposite red on the color wheel and is a natural evolution of last season's hottest hue. We expect more pops of green to hit the runway throughout the year.
