Drug and alcohol-related crimes again led to weekend arrests in Santa Clarita

Law enforcement in the Santa Clarita Valley made a total of 21 arrests over the weekend.

Of those, 13 arrests were made by the California Highway Patrol at the Newhall Area Office, six were made by the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station and two additional arrests were made by personnel at the Pitchess Detention Center.

Of those, a whopping 13 arrests, or 61 percent, were for drug and alcohol-related crimes, including driving under the influence of any kind, possession of a controlled substance for sale and drunk driving.

Among the notable crimes that stood out this weekend was a Pasadena man who was arrested for evading arrest after refusing to comply with a traffic stop that ended in a foot pursuit .
