3DS and Wii U users are saying goodbye to online gaming

@batmanbud2 I don't count Paper Mario and Luigi's Mansion since neither series were developed by Nintendo. I'm speaking more at the first-party level.

Animal Crossing is one of the big games I tend to use for comparison. New Horizons is vastly inferior to New Leaf in almost every way except customization. It lacks many of the features that New Leaf had at launch, as well as much of the charm of previous entries.

Pokemon doesn't count either in my opinion since Nintendo only publishes the series. However, I personally think that the DS era and the 3DS era were stronger than the Switch era of the series.

Nintendo previously developed many smaller scale first party titles such as Nintendogs, Tomodachi Life and Fossil Fighters. These games are no longer available on Switch. Some are largely because the Switch doesn't have a microphone or a proper touchscreen, while others have disappeared for no real reason – other than Nintendo consolidating its handheld development teams into home console development.

I'm not counting Mario Kart 8 since it was a port. Actually, it's not a game that was made from the ground up for the Switch. However, the DLC tracks in 8 were inferior to the rest of Mario Kart 8.

Personally, I prefer 3D Land over Odyssey. Mario Odyssey makes me feel uncomfortable every time I play it, causing me to quit the game halfway through on replays. I don't know what the reason is, but it's a game that makes me feel uncomfortable or bad while playing.

Then in my opinion Zelda was better on the 3DS. Although there was really only one brand new single-player Zelda on the system, it is probably my favorite of all the Zelda titles ever released. Link Between Worlds had such a good gimmick and the game had the perfect mix of structure and openness that TotK and BotW ultimately failed to balance properly. I wish we got more brand new 2D entries in the series.
