What you should know

The Kings (41-25-11) and Ducks (25-48-5) have had completely different seasons as the playoffs approach, with LA currently sitting in third place in the Pacific Division standings while the Ducks are just penultimate are the San Jose Sharks.

Although the Kings have yet to secure a spot in the playoffs, they are on the verge of doing so for the third straight year, having won seven of their last 10 games. Anaheim hasn't made the postseason since the 2017-18 season and is still in the midst of a roster rebuild after selecting Leo Carlsson with the No. 2 overall pick in last year's NHL Draft.

Players to watch

Kings captain Anze Kopitar has been a consistent and impressive force over the years, especially in the game against the Ducks. He has the most points ever with 87 against Anaheim.

Ducks center Mason McTavish is thriving in his second full season in the league despite making his debut in 2020. He scored a career-high 19 goals despite playing 16 fewer games this year due to injury.
