NSE warns about fake videos of MD and CEO Ashish Chauhan recommending stocks

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has issued clarifications on fake audio and video recordings of its MD and CEO Ashishkumar Chauhan recommending certain stocks that have been circulating on social media in the last few days.

The exchange said it observed the use of Chauhan's face and voice and the NSE logo in some audio and video clips for investment and advisory purposes that were erroneously created using technology.

“Such videos appear to have been created using sophisticated technologies to mimic the voice and facial expressions of Shri Ashishkumar Chauhan, MD and CEO of NSE. “Investors are hereby cautioned not to believe in such audio and video files and not to follow any such investment or other advice contained in such fake videos or other media,” NSE said in a press release.

Additionally, NSE stated that its employees have no authority to recommend or trade in stocks.

The exchange is making efforts to request these platforms to remove these offensive videos wherever possible.

“Everyone is requested to verify the source of communications and content sent on behalf of NSE and check official social media handles. “All investors are requested to take note and verify the information provided by NSE or its officials on its website www.nseindia.com as official information,” NSE said.
