Scattered showers through Wednesday before warming up over the weekend

A strong flood system just southwest of the area will bring increasing showers and storms throughout the day. Serious threats will remain south of our immediate area. The system will close later Wednesday evening and early Thursday, providing a few days of pleasant weather into the weekend.

Another strong upper level system will approach the state early next week, increasing the chance of rain and thunderstorms, including some heavy mentions Monday into early Tuesday and possibly for part of Wednesday evening into Thursday.

What is the chance of storms in Oklahoma on Wednesday, April 10?

High temperatures will remain mostly in the lower 60s Wednesday afternoon. Some areas may experience scattered showers, clouds and gusty north winds 15 to 30 mph in the mid to upper 50s.

As our current storm system begins to approach the area on Wednesday, the low pressure system will continue to deepen near the Red River Valley.

Our immediate area will remain on the back side of the storm system where locally heavy rainfall may occur, particularly in southern areas.

Most severe threats will occur along the Red River Valley, but areas along or south of the Highway 270 corridor could experience some strong to moderately severe storms.

A much more concentrated severe weather risk will develop today across portions of Louisiana, Mississippi and part of Alabama. A regional outbreak of severe weather is likely in these areas, including the risk of exceptionally large hail and some strong tornadoes.

Any severe weather threat Wednesday in far southeastern Oklahoma will be mostly limited to a few storms producing gusty winds and some hail.

What will the weather be like on Thursday, April 11th in Oklahoma?

After a few remaining showers before dawn Thursday morning in far southeastern OK, clouds will clear and sunshine and windy conditions return for most of Thursday.

Thursday morning lows will be around 40°C, with daytime highs around 70°C. Northwest winds of 20 to 40 mph are likely Thursday.

What will the weather be like this weekend in Oklahoma?

Friday morning temperatures will start in the upper 30s and lower 40s with daytime highs in the mid 70s and plenty of sunshine.

Highs Saturday afternoon will reach the lower 80s, although with strong southerly winds of 20 to 40 mph.
