2Pac: Unseen mugshots from sexual assault arrest show scar on his face

Never-before-seen 2Pac mugshots from his 1993 sexual assault arrest have surfaced online, showing a close-up of a massive scar on the side of his face.

The photos were unearthed by DJ Skandalous, who pointed out that the scar was simply make-up for the film Over the edge which the late rapper was filming at the time.

“Incredible photos! It's 2024 and I'm still seeing new 2Pac photos for the first time. “These particular photos are from 2Pac’s arrest on November 19, 1993,” Skandalous wrote on Instagram. “The scar on 2Pac's face is just makeup because he was filming the movie 'Above The Rim' during that time.”

He also claimed the mugshots were evidence that “Pac suffered from alopecia in his final years, which caused him to lose his hair – a repeat of previous claims made by the rapper's close friend, Jada Pinkett Smith.”

“It's also interesting to see that you can see that 2Pac is also missing parts of his hair on the back of his head,” the caption continued.

“Many people kept saying that Pac shaved his head because he had a receding hairline, but this is further evidence of the alopecia that was rampant following the police brutality he suffered as a result of the jaywalking incident.”

The background to 2Pac's arrest was allegations that he and his entourage had raped a female fan in a New York hotel in November 1993.

The then 22-year-old rapper maintained his innocence, but was ultimately found guilty of first-degree sexual abuse.

He was sentenced to one and a half to four and a half years in prison, but was released on $1.4 million bail just eight months later, in October 1995, pending an appeal of his conviction.

It was around this time that Pac joined Death Row Records and began to intensify his ultimately fatal feud with Biggie and Bad Boy Records.

In an interview with The art of dialogue Earlier this month, Treach, a close 2Pac collaborator and fellow rapper, described his arrest in 1993 as the moment he stopped making positive music.

The Naughty By Nature MC explained how “mocking” 'Pac in the sexual assault case led to a darker, more aggressive change in his musical personality.

I remember the treatment All eyes are on me Rapper received during filming Over the edgeTreach said: “The majority of people out there loved 'Pac,' but there were also mockers, haters and trolls.” Many of those who mocked him were women because it was a sexual assault case.

“And he said, 'Man, I never thought my own people would come for me to represent the thugs, I speak for the women.' I always had her back. Man, I never do anything damn…'”

Treach said the experience led 2Pac to distance himself from uplifting, socially conscious songs like “Keep Ya Head Up” and “Brenda's Got a Baby” and focus on more “gangster-oriented” records like “California Love” and his infamous dissident song ” Biggie” to focus on “Hit her.”

“This was the new 'Pac,'” he added. “Muthafuckas had him fed up as fuck.”
