FC Barcelona has the most expensive young player in the world

According to the CIES Football Observatory, FC Barcelona has the most expensive young player in the world in Lamine Yamal, whose value increased by a staggering $145 million (134 million euros), from $12 million to $157 million (11 million euros to 145 million euros).

The CIES Football Observatory used the 459th edition of its Weekly Post to present a list of the “100 best players in the world who are under 23 and whose transfer value has increased the most in the last six months”.

Lamine, just 16 years old, left the competition far behind, with Benfica's Joao Neves taking second place with a plus of $78.2 million (€72 million).

Elsewhere in Catalonia, Manchester City-bound winger Savio, who is currently with Girona, was not far behind Neves, earning $75.3 million (€70 million).

Other notable names included former City striker Cole Palmer, who finished fourth, fifth-placed Palmeiras striker Endrick – who will soon face Lamine in the El Clasico when he moves to Real Madrid – and another Sky Blues wideman , the seventh Jeremy documentary.

The CIES Football Observatory list included players from 55 clubs across 12 leagues, with the majority of players (29) coming from England's top flight, the PremierPINC
League.

Lamine was one of 17 La Liga stars, the German Bundesliga had 13 and Ligue 1 in France had 11.

Of all the clubs, Brighton was best represented with six players out of 100, while Chelsea, Tottenham Hotspur, Ajax and Eintracht Frankfurt had four each selected.

Back to Lamine: The teenager's performance should come as no surprise to many who follow Barca – or perhaps to the Catalans' Champions League quarter-final opponents, Paris Saint-Germain.

As Joan Laporta recently explained, the Qatari-backed club recently made a $215 million (€200 million) offer to the Mataro native, which the Blaugrana president rejected despite his club's well-documented financial difficulties since the pandemic .

Alongside other La Masia gems such as Pau Cubarsi and Gavi, Lamine is seen as the long-term future of the reigning Spanish champions and recently signed a sponsorship deal with Adidas.
