Detectives, crime scene investigators and the medical examiner's office say they have concluded there is no evidence of foul play in the death of 27-year-old Cole Brings Plenty.

Brings Plenty, Mnicouju Lakota, was an actor and media studies student at Haskell Indian Nations University. He was found dead Friday in the area of 200th and Homestead Lane. That's near Edgerton in Johnson County, about 11 miles east of Baldwin City.

The Johnson County Sheriff's Office released the update on Wednesday.

According to the update, “investigators worked diligently with the Lawrence Police Department and the Brings Plenty family.”

Brings Plenty's family had reported him missing and he was last seen on March 31 until his body was found on Friday.

According to a previous news release, Johnson County officers were dispatched to the area where he was found “in reference to an unoccupied vehicle.” “Officers checked the area and discovered a deceased man in a wooded area away from the vehicle.”

Wednesday's update gave no indication of a cause or manner of death.

Community members and family members spent several days searching for Brings Plenty. Lawrence police were also looking for him in connection with a suspected domestic violence incident.

Brings Plenty was known for his role in the TV show 1923, a spin-off of Yellowstone.

Friends and family have continued to pay tribute to Brings Plenty in the days since he was found, including the #BraidsForCole initiative on Monday. People across the country have been braiding their hair as a tribute to Brings Plenty and other missing indigenous peoples.
