No foul play is suspected in Cole Brings Plenty's death

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Johnson County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday that no foul play is suspected in the death of actor Cole Brings Plenty.

Brings Plenty, 27, was found around 11:45 a.m. Friday, April 5, in a wooded area near W. 200th Street and Homestead Lane.

A vehicle was found near Brings Plenty's body, according to a news release from the sheriff's office.

Brings Plenty was wanted by Douglas County authorities for his alleged involvement in a domestic violence incident on March 31 in Lawrence.

Lawrence Police Chief Rick Lockhart released a statement regarding Plenty's death.

This is a tragic case for everyone involved. Your police have worked very hard to investigate the incidents and find Cole. None of us could have imagined this outcome. Through this series of events, I learned that our police must work harder to increase the trust of our Native American community members. Meeting with Cole's family members and members of our Native American community makes it clear to me that we are not yet on the right track in partnering with a community that is very important to Lawrence's history and its current culture. This sad series of events was shared around the world. It is my hope that the future bridges we build and the partnerships we form between our Native American community and our police department will create a relationship that will not only increase trust and understanding, but also serve as a model for other communities .
