Arrest in last week's deadly triple shooting in Trenton – NBC10 Philadelphia

A man has been arrested in connection with a triple shooting that left a man dead in Trenton, New Jersey, last week, officials said.

Kareem Pygum, 43, was charged with first-degree murder, attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault and other related charges, Mercer County Prosecutor's Office officials said.

Officials reported that Pygum was taken into custody on April 10 by the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Trenton Police Department. When officers arrested Pygum, they found crack cocaine and a handgun on him.

The shooting happened just after 8 p.m. April 4 in the 500 block of North Clinton Avenue, police said.

According to police, officers were called to the scene for reports of a shooting in progress. When they got there, they found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds.

The man had a gunshot wound to the head and the woman had a gunshot wound to the shoulder, police said. They were both taken to a nearby hospital, where the man died a few days later on April 9.

The deceased victim was identified by officers as Jose Alfredo Azcona Garcia, 46, of Trenton.

A third victim with a gunshot wound to the left cheek was later found, officials said.

This case is still the subject of an ongoing investigation.
