A high-speed chase that began in Dodge County ends with an arrest

CITY OF CALAMUS, Wis. (WBAY) – At 7:36 a.m. Saturday, a Dodge County Sheriff's deputy noticed a speeding violation on a white BMW. A high-speed chase then began as the BMW headed north on U.S. Highway 151 near East Salem Road in the town of Calamus. Dodge County officials say the driver of this vehicle is 23-year-old Gregory Pauly.

Officials say the pursuit continued for about 28.5 miles into Fond du Lac County.

During the chase, the deputy noticed the vehicle Pauly was driving reaching speeds in excess of 130 miles per hour and nearly collided with other vehicles during the chase. Authorities said they successfully used a tire deflation device, but the suspect continued to flee.

On State Highway 26 in Fond du Lac County, a Wisconsin State Patrol trooper joined the pursuit and stopped the vehicle using a Pursuit Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver.

Gregory Pauly, 23, of Middleton, was taken into custody on charges of fleeing/evading an officer and second-degree recklessly endangering safety.

The Dodge County Sheriff's Office was assisted in this incident by the Beaver Dam Police Department, Waupun Police Department, Fond Du Lac County Sheriff's Office and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
