Second teen dies after shooting during Friday night robbery in Tuscaloosa

A second teenager has died in a shooting Friday evening in Tuscaloosa.

Tuscaloosa police responded to a report of a shooting and motor vehicle accident in the 2200 block of Reece Boulevard around 11 p.m. When they arrived, they discovered a vehicle had crashed into a home.

Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Jack Kennedy said one of the victims in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. The second was taken to DCH Regional Medical, where he has since died, Kennedy announced Sunday.

Investigators determined that the shooting and subsequent accident resulted from an attempted robbery. The young driver was shot, which caused the accident.

Another teenager was charged with aggravated murder and first-degree robbery. He is now charged with a second count of aggravated murder.

The names of the victims and suspect are not being released due to age reasons.

The young victims are the second and third teenagers killed in Tuscaloosa since Wednesday.
