ITV Midsomer Murders viewers 'get annoyed' and demand 'bring Vera back'

ITV Midsomer Murders has come under fire as viewers demand the channel “bring Vera back”. Midsomer Murders took to Twitter/X on Sunday to describe the first episode of the new series as “far-fetched”.

Fans said they were “pissed off” as the ITV drama returned on Sunday, April 14. “John Nettles did this show when he was over, it was going downhill, it was still worth watching but a difficult one to be honest,” one social network user wrote.

“Lovely simple Sunday night TV show but a bit far fetched #MidsomerMurders,” another added, before a third quipped: “I don't know why but no matter how hard I try to like this show I never get around to it.” “ They responded to the request: “Just bring Vera back.”

Another viewer who stopped by at 8pm fumed at the broadcaster: “In the latest #MidsomerMurders on @ITV the pathologist who plays the role is 73 in real life and looks it.” Why do they put actors “Ones who are unsuitable for television roles?”

But another defended the show, snidely saying: “People are complaining about #MidsomerMurders, it's only been on for 5 minutes. Personally, I like the show to start with a slightly stranger premise.”

“Why oh why is just one episode of #MidsomerMurders really pissed off because ITV did this!” another said. The series returned with an episode that included the following synopsis: “When a survivalist is found murdered in his bomb-proof hideout, Barnaby uncovers a dark conspiracy that reveals how far people will go to escape the end of the world. “

And Radio Times said: “Deep in Blacktrees Forest lies a bombproof shelter built by a man called Warren Kaine. His extreme paranoia has attracted other survivalists to the village, and now a doomsday prep group meets weekly. When Warren is found murdered, Barnaby unravels. A dark conspiracy that reveals how far people will go to escape the end of the world. Drama starring Neil Dudgeon, Nick Hendrix, Fiona Dolman and Nina Wadia.
