COMEBACK CATS: The Detroit Tigers come alive in the 8th inning with a 4-3 win over the Minnesota Twins to tie the series

Game notes: The Detroit Tigers' offense is by no means running at full speed, but the unit has developed a feel for timely scoring. The Tigers were headed for their third straight loss to the Twins on Sunday when the offense suddenly came to life. Much-maligned shortstop Javier Báez actually got the momentum going, hitting his first home run of the season and leading the rest of the offense to a four-run eighth inning and a win over the Minnesota Twins. Things don't get any easier for the Tigers as the defending World Series champions come to town for a four-game series. The Texas Rangers haven't gotten off to a good start, hitting just .500 in 16 games, but they've played a tough schedule so far, including two sets against the Houston Astros and a series against the Tampa Bay Rays. Ironically, the Rangers will have Michael Lorenzen on the mound, who played for the Tigers last year and was the team's representative in the All-Star Game. Lorenzen will make his Rangers debut after briefly being on the injured list with a right neck strain. Meanwhile, Reese Olson will pitch for the Tigers and look to bounce back after a subpar outing in his last game where he gave up nine hits and six runs to the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The two teams will be back in action on Tuesday with Casey Mize for Detroit at 1:10 p.m.
