Arkansas football quarterback Jacolby Criswell is expected to enter the transfer portal

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Arkansas football quarterback Jacolby Criswell is planning to enter the transfer portal, according to a report from 247sports on Monday.

Criswell expected to compete against Boise State transfer Taylen Green as the Razorbacks' starting quarterback this spring, but he took minimal reps with the first team and appeared in contention to be Green's backup behind redshirt freshman Malachi Singleton to fall back.

In Saturday's spring game, Criswell went 3 of 8 for 19 yards. He worked exclusively with the second team. Singleton was 3 of 6 for 84 yards and a touchdown, while KJ Jackson completed 15 of 22 passes for 107 yards.

In his only season with the Hogs, Criswell served as KJ Jefferson's backup and received minimal playing time. In the season finale against Missouri, after Jefferson was sidelined due to injury, he took significant snaps, completing 12 of 20 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown in a 48-14 loss.

Criswell leaves the Razorbacks with two years remaining. He arrived last offseason as a transfer from North Carolina, where he spent time as a backup to Sam Howell and Drake Maye. Howell was the Washington Commanders' starting quarterback this year, while Maye is considered a top-five pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Criswell was the No. 2 player in Arkansas and the 11th-ranked dual-threat quarterback in the country in the 247Sports Composite graduating from Morrilton High School in 2020.
