Warriors' Draymond Green says he hates the NBA play-in game, calls it 'the best thing ever'

Golden State Warriors star Draymond Green isn't happy with the fact that his team has to fight through the play-in tournament to reach the playoffs, but he understands the positive impact it has on the NBA.

“I hate the play-in, just so you all know. I absolutely hate it,” Green said on this week’s episode of The Draymond Green Show before adding: “It’s the best thing ever created. When you look at the play-in and what it does for basketball, it’s the best thing ever created.”

The Warriors finished 10th in the Western Conference with a record of 46-36. They must overcome the ninth-seeded Sacramento Kings on Tuesday before facing the loser of the No. 7-8 matchup between the New Orleans Pelicans and the Los Angeles Lakers for a chance to earn the No. 8 seed to back up.

Green further stated that he believes the play-in tournament has improved the level of competition in the NBA, especially toward the end of the regular season.

“Since the NBA added play-in, the last month and a half of the season has reached a completely different level. A completely different one, so to speak,” he said. “Well, I hate the play-in. I especially hate being ranked 10th. But as much as I hate it, as a basketball player, as a basketball fan, this play-in is crazy and you gotta love it.”
