Craig Melvin's family got a puppy for Christmas! And we love his name

Craig Melvin has added a furry member to his family!

The TODAY co-host shared that he and his family got a new puppy named Myles Copper Melvin over Christmas, TODAY, January 2nd. It all started when Craig's two children, Delano, 9, and Sybil, 7, woke up on Christmas morning and unpacked some dog toys and bowls.

When his children saw the gifts, Craig told them that a few days later they would be picking up a dog, an Irish doodle.

When Myles got home with them, Craig took a few new pictures with their new furry friend, which he shared with TODAY.

In the photos, the dog cuddles up on the couch with Craig's wife, sportscaster Lindsay Czarniak, and their two children, Delano, 9, and Sybil, 7.

Craig and Czarniak also shared a video on Instagram of their children meeting Myles for the first time. The clip included some adorable images of Myles sitting on Delano and Sybil's lap in the car, as well as shots of them cuddling him at home.

The clip was captioned: “We started the year by welcoming our newest family member. Meet Myles. We are already in love❤️ #love #puppy #family #dog.”

Craig's message to bring Myles home comes a week after he wished his fans a Merry Christmas on Instagram.

While wearing a red sweater, he spoke to the camera about the meaning of the holidays.

“Of course this is the time we celebrate the birth of Christ, but it is also a time of giving and helping others. So let's make sure as we celebrate this holiday season that we spread some joy, spread some cheer and also let's think about those who are struggling at this time of year because they have lost someone,” he said. “So if you are lucky enough to be surrounded by those who like and love you, give them a hug from me. Merry Christmas again. Happy New Year!”

Craig also shared how he celebrated the first day of 2024. On January 1, he posted a photo of a delicious meal that consisted of what appeared to be kale, black-eyed peas over rice, and meat.

“The generational tradition continues. Happy New Year everyone,” he captioned the post.

One fan commented: “You can take the south boy out but you can't take the south out of the boy 😂.”

Another said: “Cabbage and black-eyed peas! A southern tradition!”
