The days are getting longer and the nights are getting warmer, so it's drive-in season.

Fort Collins' Holiday Twin Drive-In, one of only seven drive-in theaters still in operation in Colorado, will open this weekend with double shows on Friday and Saturday nights on each of its two screens, general manager CJ Cisar said Monday.

One theater will show “Kung Fu Panda 4” and “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” while the other will show “The Big Lebowski” and “Dazed and Confused.”

Shows begin at dusk, around 8 p.m. on opening weekend, he said. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $10 per person for adults, $6 for children ages 6 to 9, and free for children 5 and under.

The drive-in will only be open Friday and Saturday evenings through Memorial Day weekend, then the schedule will shift to seven nights a week through Labor Day weekend. The September and October schedule is Friday and Saturday nights only through October 26th. As always, the final weekend will include the annual Spookathon on Oct. 25 and Trunk or Treat on Oct. 26, Cisar said.

Concession stands will be open and will offer beer and wine as well as standard movie theater food and drinks for purchase, he said. Pizza is only available when the schedule changes to seven nights per week, Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

The opening weekend shows would continue for another weekend or two, he said. Highlights of the 2024 theater schedule include “If,” a new film starring Ryan Reynolds, in theaters May 10; “The Garfield Movie” is scheduled to hit theaters May 24; “Despicable Me 4” is scheduled to be released on July 3rd; “Deadpool & Wolverine,” scheduled for release July 26; and “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” scheduled for release Sept. 6, Cisar said.

Movie schedules and tickets can be found at Holidaytwin.com.

Cisar's late stepfather Wes bought the drive-in in 1979, and Cisar, his brother Josh and his mother Stephanie Webb have operated it since 2000 or 2001, CJ said.

He said the state's other six drive-in theaters that are still operating are in Buena Vista, Centennial, Delta, Monte Vista, Montrose and Pueblo.
