BTS's Suga has the most successful concert film of 2024 with Agust D 'D-Day'

Even though BTS's Suga still has another year left on his mandatory South Korean military service, the K-pop superstar is still remotely on the charts. On Tuesday (April 16), Trafalgar Releasing and HYBE announced that the limited release concert film of the singer's alter ego Agust D has set box office records in the U.S. and internationally so far this year.

According to a press release, during screenings April 10-14 SUGA | Agust D TOUR 'D-Day' THE MOVIE, grossed $10.16 million worldwide in limited release. This sum gave Suga the bragging rights of being the highest-grossing US and global concert film of 2024, in addition to the highest-grossing film event of all time for a solo K-pop act.

The concert film opened in 3,500 theaters in more than 100 territories – primarily April 10-13 – and ranked No. 2 in the April 10 North America box office report, grossing more than $961,000, with an average of 1, $5 million per theater $1,264 in 784 theaters; Cumulative gross sales in North America were $2.3 million. The film's IMAX screenings also grossed more than $2 million, accounting for 20% of its worldwide gross. Trafalgar was also the well-known distributor of the most successful concert films of 2023, Taylor Swift, in Europe, Asia and South America Epoch tour film ($267.1 million) and Beyoncé's RENAISSANCE; A MOVIE BY BEYONCE ($44.4 million).

Due to demand in the United States, the film's presale release was expanded by 100 screenings per week and additional screenings were added through April 21; Expansions of the release also took place in Mexico, Brazil and other Latin American markets.
