The search for the Homestead woman's killer continues

HOMESTEAD, Fla. — Five days since a Homestead woman was attacked, kidnapped and murdered in Central Florida, authorities continued to search for her killer.

New details continue to emerge, including how the murder of a tow truck driver a day earlier may be connected to Tuesday's killing of 31-year-old Katherine Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias.

The armed carjacking was captured on cell phone video in Seminole County. A witness said a gunman got out of a green Acura, pointed a gun at them, jumped into the back seat of Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias' white Dodge Durango and then drove away. Investigators learned that she had recently called her husband.

“Her vehicle was rammed by the vehicle behind her,” Seminole County Sheriff Dennis Lemma said. “You didn’t call 911; He didn’t call 911.”

Hours later, Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias' body was found in her burned SUV with a dozen spent 10mm shell casings.

Lemma said the green Acura found was also spotted at a crime scene in Orange County where tow truck driver Juan Cintron was shot in a hail of more than a hundred shots the day before Guerrero De Aguasvias was killed in Altagracia.

“A good percentage of the bullets on the ground are 10mm rifles, which were used in the murder of our victim,” Lemma said.

The sheriff said shortly after Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias died, her husband called a childhood friend whose husband is a sheriff's deputy in Orange County.

Deputy Francisco Estrella Chicon was arrested after the sheriff said he gave Seminole investigators a false name to obtain key details about Katherine's case, which he then passed on to her husband.

But is the Altagracia Guerrero De Aguasvias case connected to Cintron's murder?

“I absolutely believe they are connected,” Lemma said.

Lemma added that they still need physical evidence to prove there is a connection.

The Orange County deputy is now being held without bail.

Lemma said the victim's husband is still not considered a relevant person.
