Texas NT T'Vondre Sweat continues to be a difficult evaluation

Every year there are a few players in the NFL Draft who are difficult to evaluate. There are many different reasons for this, be it body type, being off the field or style of play. The 2024 NFL Draft class has no shortage of players like this.

One of the most intriguing players in the NFL Draft is Texas nose tackle T'Vondre Sweat. Weighing 366 pounds, he is a huge human being. After not weighing in at the Senior Bowl, there were rumors that Sweat did not weigh in because he weighed closer to 380 pounds than his Texas listed weight of 364 pounds.

That kind of momentum can be huge for a player like Sweat and has made him a very difficult evaluation for The Athletic's Dane Brugler. On the Athletic Football Show, Brugler said Sweat “gained 390 pounds” during the College Football Playoff.

When it comes to nose tackle, the goal is to be a gap filler. You don't want to be so big that you can't move. This is why you often see nose tackles in the weight range of around 330 pounds, as good movement skills can take you to another level as a nose tackle. Just ask Vince Wilfork how this has helped him over the years.

Now, that's not the only thing that made Sweat a difficult review. He was arrested in early April on suspicion of drunk driving. That didn't ease the party's obvious concerns some had about Sweat not being on the field. Sweat also struggles with double teams on the court. This is not what you want from your nose tackle.

Where will sweat go? If he struggles with his interviews, there's a chance he could fall behind on day three after being just a fringe first-round pick early in the process.
