There are no Christmas jerseys for NBA teams this holiday season

Special jerseys worn by NBA teams have been a staple on the NBA's Christmas list in recent years. However, in the first year of an eight-year, $1 billion contract as the NBA's official apparel supplier, Nike forgot or intentionally abandoned the tradition. Last year, the NBA's Christmas jerseys received mixed reviews.

In 2012, the monochrome “Big Color” jerseys caused a stir. The next “Big Logo” Christmas jerseys received a positive response. Most recently, the festive written uniforms were a hit. This year, Nike treated the NBA teams like children on a naughty list and didn't even present them with new designs. As expected, the criticism was harsh.

Nike also missed the opportunity to line its wallet, as Adidas, the NBA's former apparel provider, did by promoting and then selling holiday jerseys in its online store. Combined with the breakaway jersey issue that emerged this year, the NBA's Nike era is off to a rocky start.
