Another somewhat questionable leak claims that Pixel 8a is getting a price increase

Google's mid-range Pixel range has offered some great deals over the years, but prices have increased every year. With the Google Pixel 8a, another leak is fueling the fire that the price will rise.

The Google Pixel 6a was the cheapest device in the modern Pixel series, priced at $449. The Pixel 7a then rose to $499 with select upgrades, including wireless charging.

Meanwhile, the Pixel 8a is expected to see a few more long-overdue upgrades. In addition to the return of wireless charging, the device is also expected to bring a 120Hz display as well as Tensor G3, a pretty big chipset upgrade. If it's similar to the rest of the Pixel 8 series, the device may continue to receive updates for a long time.

Therefore, a further price increase for Pixel 8a does not seem out of the question. A leak earlier this year suggested that the device will cost 569.90 euros in Germany, compared to 499 euros for the 7a.

Now, PassionateGeekz (above GSMArena) refers to a Canadian retailer that appears to have listed the Pixel 8a at a starting price of $708.99 and the updated 256GB variant for $792.99. That's significantly more than the $599 price that the Pixel 7a is currently offering in the country, but it's also pretty safe to assume that these offers don't include final pricing.

Since we don't know the track record here, it's worth taking this all with a grain of salt, but it's certainly consistent with previous reports.
