VAR: Has football crossed a referee Rubicon?

Critics argue that the use of video technology in football has made referee decisions more precise overall, but is also changing the game for the worse.

Anger over how video assistant referee (VAR) is being used has steadily grown since it was introduced to English football in 2019, and there have been a number of high-profile incidents this season, The Times said in an editorial last year . Two more during last weekend's action appear to have tipped the debate over the edge.
