Kidnapping suspect arrested after home security camera shows woman being carried away

The suspect and victim knew each other, police said. The victim is safe.

A kidnapping suspect was arrested after a surveillance camera in Oregon showed video showing a woman being carried away against her will.

The victim was found safe, Hillsboro police said Tuesday. The suspect and victim knew each other, police said, noting it was not a random attack.

The video, viewed by ABC News, was filmed on Sunday around 10:45 p.m. It appears to show a woman wearing glasses ringing the doorbell and waiting for someone to answer.

A man with a beard appeared to approach her and carry her away against her will, police said. The woman “yelled for help before being picked up and carried away by the man pictured above,” police said in the statement, which also included screenshots of the woman and man from the video.

“They appear to have left in a white pickup truck,” police said.

Police said they were alerted to the apparent kidnapping on Monday morning and released the images of the suspect and victim to seek help from the public.

On Tuesday morning, police said the suspect and victim had been identified and the suspect was taken into custody.

The suspect, whose name was not released, is charged with kidnapping, police said.
