Download Festival organizers have drawn up a transport plan after there were significant delays in the arrival of visitors last year.

The new plan involves scanning parking tickets further into the venue – rather than where you enter – to move people off the street more quickly.

Festival booker Andy Copping said: “We knew we had to focus on that this year.”

The event, taking place June 14-16, is the 21st in the festival's history.

Mr Copping said they had hired a new team – a company specializing in traffic management – to address the issues that arose last year.

He said: “We believe that with their experience and knowledge, all the problems we faced last year will be eliminated.”

Jess Shields, director of Far and Beyond Events, which is overseeing the new transport plan, said it was “really revised this year based on last year”.

She added: “Even down to things like the way people pull into parking lots to get them off the street quicker, so the parking lot you're scanning isn't immediately where you're driving.” In.”

Ms Shields added: “We are moving the location of the transport hub, which I think will also have a big impact.”

“We're pulling people a little bit more to the side and taking them off the road that they've been on for the last couple of years, which I think has created a lot of backlog.”

“As you can imagine, we are under close scrutiny from the council and local residents due to the impact we are having.”

She added that there will always be traffic because thousands of people arrive, “but we're working really hard to make sure that all the things that could be improved from last year will be there.”
