FAST Tubi adds live MMA and soccer content with DAZN partnership

Tubi, Fox's free ad-supported streaming television service, is venturing into the arena of live sports thanks to a deal with British streamer DAZN.

The deal will see Tubi launch three channels for US and Canadian users.

DAZN TV and DAZN Ringside, which focus on mixed martial arts, and DAZN Women's Football (North American soccer), will each offer a mix of live and recorded sports programming. DAZN TV also includes some general sports programs as well as football offerings.

DAZN Ringside will be available to US consumers with DAZN TV streaming to Canadian consumers.

DAZN Women's Football focuses on the UEFA Women's Champions League.

These new channels mark Tubi's entry into the live sports FAST market. Even if the channels are more niche channels, the move could still be significant as a significant strategic move by Tubi.

Many other streamers, both free and paid, have expanded their offerings to include live sports, including taking over games long owned by legacy media rights holders. While many of these offerings tend to be niche or lower-tier leagues, there have been some key moves to offer streamers more general interest sports competitions.

In some cases, these matches appear to be an attempt to attract viewers or subscribers with so-called tentpole content, which can ultimately result in something of a loss leader for the streamer.
