Towson football announces two-game series with Navy

Towson University Football has announced it will play two away games against Navy – one in 2026 and one in 2030.

The Tigers will travel to Annapolis on September 5, 2026 and again on August 31, 2030. These two competitions will be the start of the season for both teams.

Navy and Towson have only met once. Slotback Shun White raged as the host Mids beat the Tigers 41-13 in the 2008 season opener. White rushed for 348 yards, which remains a Navy single-game record.

Towson was originally scheduled to play local rival Morgan State in 2026, now against Navy. The school announced that the Morgan State game will now be played on September 19th.

Towson posted a 5-6 record in 2023 under first-year coach Pete Shinnick. Navy went 5-7 last season under first-year coach Brian Newberry.

Athletic director Chet Gladchuk noted that Navy has scheduled Towson for other sports in recent years, including men's basketball in 2022 and lacrosse this spring. The Towson women's basketball team competed in the Navy Classic last season.

We have always had the utmost respect for the Towson athletic program as a whole. We value this relationship and felt it was a good time to get back to football,” Gladchuk said. “We felt it would be great for the fans of both schools and great for the local community. Getting there is easy and I expect we will get a big turnout at the game. We also expect these games to be quite competitive.”
