College Sports Summary (April 24)

Here is a recap of the high school varsity action on Wednesday, April 24th.

Soft ball

Dundalk 12, Hereford 7: After trailing 4-0 and 7-2, the Owls' offense broke out. Jayda Gilbert hit a home run and drove in two runs. Oaklyn Johnson had a double, a single and a run scored twice. Justice Smith finished the game with two hits and two RBIs. Alessa Sergi singled and totaled two RBIs.

Francis Scott Key 1, Century 0: A pitchers' duel between the Eagles' Jasmine Kline and the Knights' Jordan Currie went scoreless into the eighth inning. FSK finally got the breakthrough when Lily Reiter defeated Piper Beahm by a single for the walk-off win. Kline pitched all eight innings and allowed just one hit while striking out 16. Currie also went the distance, allowing seven hits and scoring twice.

baseball

Pikesville 3, Eastern Tech 0: Issac Garonzik picked up the win on the mound, throwing six innings of three-hit ball. He walked two and struck out five. Tegan Hakim ended the game in the seventh. At the plate, Michael Payne had an RBI single. Ian Davis also drove in a run.

Aberdeen 15, Joppatowne 3: Aberdeen added six runs in the second to boost the offensive attack. Ian Walton had three hits, including two doubles, and three RBIs. Jack Morrill had two hits, drove in three runs and scored four. KJ Miller finished the game with two RBIs.

C. Milton Wright 5, Havre de Grace 4: After scoring three runs in the sixth inning, the Mustangs came back with one run in the sixth, two in the seventh to tie the game, and another in the eighth inning to win the game. Kyle Frank's RBI hit in the eighth gave CMW the walk-off win.

Girls lacrosse

Gerstell 22, Park 5: Twelve Falcons scored the decisive victory. Carter Eberle, Sara Fenwick and Addy McIlvain each scored a hat trick in the win. Cambrie Franks, Reese Eberle, Piper Gallagher and Whitney McIlvain all finished with two goals, with Franks providing two assists. Maggie Kennedy had a goal and three assists.

Howard 13, Centennial 8: Brynn Bartlett scored seven goals and assisted on two more to lead the Lions to victory. Avery Graham and Jessica Vela each scored two goals and Emmie Williams added one. Graham also dished out two assists.

Annapolis Area Christian School 14, Catholic 12: Skylar Sensenbrenner scored twelve goals to lead AACS to victory. Brooke Sensenbrenner collected seven draw controls.

Hole Raven 18, Lansdowne 4: The Raiders turned a 4-2 lead after one quarter into a 12-2 lead at halftime. Sarah Watkeys led the way in the win with four goals and an assist. She also caused five turnovers. Molly Frey, Charlotte Gongon and Lauren Gongon each scored hat tricks in the balanced offensive performance. In net, Rain Shinnick made seven saves.
