Apple Reportedly Stops Production of Eco-Friendly FineWoven Accessories Due to Durability – PassionateGeekz

According to a new leak from tipster Kosutami, Apple appears to have stopped production of its FineWoven accessories.

These accessories were launched last September as part of Apple's commitment to sustainability and were seen as a durable alternative to leather. However, it appears that the company's durability claims have not held up over time.

Kosutami, known for accurate leaks about Apple products, announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the company has stopped producing FineWoven accessories due to the poor durability of the material.

With FineWoven accessories no longer being manufactured, Apple may be looking for a new material for its high-end accessories range. But it wouldn't be leather, says the tipster.

Kosutami has a history of reliable leaks on Apple products and FineWoven accessories in particular. The tipster detailed Apple's plans for new Apple Watch bands and matching iPhone cases made from “woven fabric material” more than a month before their official release.

In addition, Kosutami also released the first images of FineWoven accessories shortly before the official announcement.

Last September, Apple replaced its leather accessories with FineWoven material, claiming it was more environmentally friendly. They described it as a “luxurious and durable micro-twill” made from 68% post-consumer recycled polyester.

The accessories weren't affordable either. For example, FineWoven iPhone cases are $59, MagSafe wallets are $59, AirTag holders are $35, and Apple Watch bands are $99.

However, customer response to FineWoven accessories has been negative citing complaints of poor durability and disappointing quality. We have covered several reports about such incidents and YouTubers Arun Maini also pointed out the issue, saying that FineWoven's case “doesn't seem to be that good at withstanding the test of time.”

Notably, Apple's recent spring update also omitted new color options for FineWoven accessories. If Apple has actually stopped production, it could take some time before existing stocks noticeably run out.
