The ongoing heavy rains that have caused devastating damage across the country have also flooded the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).

Travelers found themselves in a dilemma on Friday as some essential services got stuck due to heavy rain.

Some of the airport's roofs are also leaking, causing operations to be suspended at Terminal 1C, which serves international airlines Qatar, Lufthansa, Ethiopia, Turkey and Rwanda.

The travelers remained uncertain whether their journey would continue or not.

This is not the first time such a situation has been observed at the airport.

In November last year, another viral video of a leaking roof at JKIA went viral, but transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen What he called the culprit was poor workmanship until Contractors and engineers who carried out renovation work on Terminal 1C and 1E in the previous administration of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

He claimed that contractor rushed through the temporary renovations without meeting the required standards as the government was in the process of decommissioning the terminal and building a new one.

CS Murkomen in his speech assured Kenyans that the renovation work would be carried out to the required standards.
