“Unsung Hero,” “Challengers,” and “Boy Kills World”

Of the three films opening this week, one is about love, rivalry and tennis, another is about revenge, resilience and survival, but our Movie Man begins with the film that deals with faith, family and music.

Secret hero

This is the true story of David Smallbone and his family. His successful music business fails. He moves his family from Australia to Nashville to rebuild their lives. With their seven children, a few suitcases and a love of music, David and his pregnant wife Helen struggle to live a better life. But Helen inspires her husband and children to hold on to their faith despite all odds. They begin to recognize their children's musical talents, and after years of struggle, some of them become two of the most successful acts in the history of inspirational music, also being five-time Grammy Award-winning artists for KING & COUNTRY and Rebecca St. James . Executive producer Candace Cameron Bure, one of the film's cast members, recently told our Movie Man that this isn't the kind of movie where someone says a prayer and everything immediately gets better. It's about praying and then dealing with the ups and downs.

“This is real life. God is not a genie. “You don't snap your fingers and suddenly he makes things perfect because you've said a prayer in your life,” she said. “It's important to produce films , which are realistic and relatable and that's exactly what this film is. That's why we don't shy away from showing the hardships and the humility that we all need sometimes.

Our film man really enjoyed the inspirational film Unsung Hero, which is coming to theaters this weekend.

In the R-rated film “Challengers,” Zendaya plays a former tennis prodigy who retires after an injury and later marries a tennis champion on a losing streak. She plans his comeback, which takes a turn when he has to compete against another player who happens to be his former best friend and her former lover.

Boy kills world
