Sock leaks and murals provide clues to the Tampa Bay Rays' City Connect University

The Rays are expected to unveil their City Connect jerseys on Monday. Unlike so many CC releases, this one was airtight and leak-free – until now.

Twitterer @romanporican spotted the CC socks for sale and tried to buy them, but apparently they shouldn't be on shelves yet:

Here's a closer look at these four photos, along with a few additional images posted by @romanporican:

Additionally, @romanporican is one of several Rays fans who were Tracking progress of a mural being installed in St. Petersburg. This is what it looked like yesterday:

If you look at the skateboarder on the left, the three palm trees on his t-shirt and the Devil Ray sticker on the bottom of his board match the graphics on the socks:

By the way, this devil ray logo is clearly intended to be reminiscent of the Skyway Bridge, which stretches over Tampa Bay. Some fans are I'm already referring to the logo as SkyRay.

Based on all of this, it appears that the Rays' CC uniform will feature bright colors reminiscent of the team's original Devil Rays design from the 1990s, the Ray/Bridge logo and three palm trees. and maybe something related to skate culture. The blacked out area in the middle of the mural is expected to be filled in on Monday with the CC jersey's chest badge, which will likely be the “Tampa Bay” lettering on the socks.

So that's the current state of things. We'll see the full design on Monday.
