Analysis: Nottingham Forest 0-2 Man City

There comes a certain point in the season where it looks like Manchester City can perform averagely and still win games.

Recent history shows us that Pep Guardiola's side know how to push themselves when it matters most.

At the City Ground they were not at their best against an aggressive and up-and-coming Nottingham Forest, who are battling relegation.

But goals from Josko Gvardiol and Erling Haaland secured the three points and ensured City remain in contention for the Premier League title as they sit a point clear of league leaders Arsenal with a game in hand.

City fans will be happy to see Haaland on the scoresheet after he was out of the squad for two games due to injury.

Guardiola was without Phil Foden and Ruben Dias for the trip to Nottingham as both were ill.

And there were further worries when goalkeeper Ederson had to be substituted at half-time after a collision with Willy Boly and the Brazilian left the City Ground with his left arm in a sling.

But their experience at this point in the season ultimately came through and the title remains in their hands.

If both they and Arsenal continue to win and City take advantage of the game, Guardiola's team will take the title by two points, securing their record fourth consecutive win.
