Dive into true crime in New England with the Murder, She Told podcast

Central Maine-based podcaster Kristen Seavey has a lifelong interest in storytelling, mysteries, and true crime.

Seavey is also a recognized victim advocate and researcher who works with families affected by murder and violence, and a professional actor with a resume that includes film, television and theater productions across the country.

In late 2020, Seavey launched the true crime podcast “Murder, She Told,” which focuses on unsolved cases, missing people, and other crime stories from Maine, New England, and occasionally other parts of the country.

Seavey said podcasting is an extension of her storytelling and allows her to delve deeper into crime cases. “As a lifelong consumer of true crime, I always wanted to learn more about the people at the center of the story and those they left behind: the victims and their families. I always felt like the story started with her death, but there was so much more to her story,” she said.

Maine is a state that Seavey doesn't think is well represented on other podcasts or shows, but it should be. “We have so many cases here, especially unsolved cases, that many people have never heard of and that largely live in memories and archives.”

A recent episode is about the disappearance of Jeremy Alex in Northport in 2004.

Since its release, Seavey said she has worked with dozens of families and police departments to raise public awareness of unsolved cases, and that “Murder, She Told” works with the Kittery Police Department in the investigation of Reeves Johnson, a missing person from collaborated in 1983.
