NBA playoffs: Kristaps Porzingis limps off the floor with a non-contact calf injury against Heat

Kristaps Porzingis was sidelined Monday against the Miami Heat with a calf injury and limped to the locker room.

The injury occurred late in the second quarter when Boston was leading 47-31. Porzingis received a pass from Jaylen Brown in a halfcourt set, then lost control of the ball as he pulled himself up in apparent pain. He immediately raised his hand to be removed from the game and began to limp.

The Celtics listed him as questionable at halftime because of right calf strain.

Porzingis appeared to have tweaked things a bit two possessions earlier. He limped in transition after a missed Celtics shot.

He stayed in the game, only to leave the field limping a few moments later. Al Horford took his place in the starting lineup in the second half.

The Celtics started Monday's first-round playoff series with a 2-1 lead and led 53-36 at halftime. The injury is potentially a blow to Boston if Porzingis is sidelined for an extended period of time.

Porzingis was crucial to the Celtics, as he compiled the NBA's best regular-season record of 64-18 in his first season with Boston. He averaged 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 1.9 blocks per game while shooting 51.6% from the floor and 37.5% from three in the regular season.
