Mike Myers teases the fourth Austin Power film and insists there's “absolutely” more story to tell

Mike Myers has hinted at the possibility of a fourth Austin Powers film, more than two decades since the franchise's last release in 2002.

The Hollywood star, who played several characters in the spy parody trilogy, usually stays out of the spotlight, but attended Nicole Kidman's AFI Life Achievement Award honoring over the weekend.

Myers, 60, was last seen in a Netflix sitcom in 2022 The Pentaverate and David O. Russell's critically panned film Amsterdam.

Asked about the possibility of a fourth Austin Powers film by Entertainment tonightthe star replied shyly with several glances at the camera: “I can neither confirm nor deny the existence or non-existence of such a project.”

“Do you think him? [Austin] “has more story to tell?” the host asked Myers.

“Absolutely,” the actor said with a smile.

Myers said he believes there is more life in the franchise, adding: “That’s true. I have already hinted at this possibility earlier. And I have generally avoided revealing details of specific plans.”

Myers has previously hinted at the existence of a fourth film, joking that his evasion was “an unconfirmed confirmation.”

In 2019, Myers, who also starred alongside Dana Carvey in “ Wayne's worldhinted that a possible fourth Austin Powers film would “probably” be from the perspective of comedic villain Dr. Evil would be told.

Speaking at the AFI event honoring Kidman last week, Myers praised the actor as “one of the most well-rounded people,” adding, “You admire her and like her too, which is a very rare combination for an artist.” I think everything she does is so elegant and premium and amazing.”

Myers, who has three children and has been married to set designer Kelly Tisdale since 2010, most recently played Austin Powers in the 2002 film Austin Powers in Goldmember. The trilogy and the Shrek films made him one of the most wealthy stars in Hollywood.

Myers is expected to return to voice Shrek in a fifth film. Animation studio Illumination says of the project in April 2023: “We expect the cast to return. Conversations are starting now and everything we have received suggests that the actors' return is generating enormous excitement.”
