The former UNC football quarterback finds a new home

After recently entering the transfer portal, former UNC football quarterback Tad Hudson has found a new home.

Hudson announced on social media that he has committed to continuing his college football career at Coastal Carolina. He leaves Chapel Hill after spending one season with the UNC football program.

Hudson was recruited as a four-star recruit in his senior year. He arrived in Chapel Hill and saw no game action, as he was a backup to a fairly notable star quarterback in Drake Maye.

At the start of the 2024 season, it became apparent that either Max Johnson or Conner Harrell would be the team's starter, leaving Hudson in a reserve role once again. Looking for an opportunity to experience the field, Hudson entered the transfer portal and found a place where he could compete for the starting job.

Hudson's departure left a small hole in the UNC football program as they entered the transfer portal to find another quarterback to fill the depth chart. Fortunately, a familiar face was available in Jacolby Criswell, as the Tar Heels were able to acquire another player to compete for the starting gig.

Of course, the Tar Heels wished Hudson had stuck around. However, this is how the transfer portal works these days, as student-athletes rightly have the opportunity to see if a better situation is available for them.

The grass isn't always necessarily greener, but the hope is that the decision will pay off for Tad Hudson as he continues his college football career elsewhere.
