Here's how to live stream Game 5 of the NHL playoffs for free

Home advantage?

The series between the Dallas Stars and the Vegas Golden Knights has so far been lacking, with both teams winning two away games.

The two teams meet in the fifth game of their NHL best-of-seven playoff series on Wednesday night at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Game time is 7:30 p.m. EDT and you can watch it on ESPN or stream it live on ESPN+, fubo TV (FREE trial), DirecTV Stream (discount and free trial), and Sling TV (introductory discount).

The BETMGM sports betting line is Stars -161, Golden Knights +136; over/under is 5.5.

After winning the Western Conference finals in Game 6 in Dallas last year (45-29-8, fourth in the Pacific Division), Vegas won the first two games of that series there, 4-3 and 3-3. 1. The Knights are comfortable at the American Airlines Center, where they won their only two regular season games before Christmas.

To their credit, the top-seeded Stars (52-21-9, first in the Central Division) regained some momentum with two wins in Vegas, making them 3-2 and 4-2.

They wrapped up the series on Monday night when Wyatt Johnston scored his third goal in two games and Evgenii Dadonov, Ty Dellandrea and Roope Hintz also scored.

Jake Oettinger secured the win by stopping 33 shots.

The Stars have played the last three games without forwards Mason Marchment and Radek Faska after both left with undisclosed injuries in the third period of the series opener. They have been without strong defender Jani Hakanpää since mid-March due to a lower body injury.

Dellandrea, who has been solid in the last two home games for the Stars, scored the game-winning goal in Game 4. He also didn't appear in the first two games of the West final against Vegas last year before scoring two goals in the third period of Game 5, after which the game was tied.

“It’s two really good teams competing,” Dellandra told The Associated Press about that series. “We kept going back and forth. It’s playoff hockey and it’s exciting.”

After taking the lead on Monday, the Stars followed the Knights' playbook from the first two games and focused on defense in the third period. Although Vegas defeated Dallas 15-7 in the third period, the Stars repeatedly missed scoring opportunities and forced the Knights to make difficult shots.

“I thought we really took control of the game in the second period,” Stars coach Peter DeBoer told the AP. “The game in the third period was just lockdown. You don’t like to sit back that long, but I felt like we were smart, like they were in Dallas when they had the lead in the third.”

Dallas ended any doubts when Hintz scored the empty-net goal with 1:22 left.

“Probably every team had their way in one of these games,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “But overall we are tied 2-2 here, all close games. That’s why we have to be the team that makes the right plays in the next game, just like we did the last trip there.”
