Lenny Kravitz finally explains the viral video of him working out in tight leather pants

Lenny Kravitz is finally responding to the viral video of him hitting iron in the gym while wearing a rather unorthodox item of clothing: leather pants.

The rock star caused a stir on the internet last month after posting a video of himself working out in skin-tight pants. Social media users were amazed and impressed by his choice of clothing, which also included a mesh tank top and sunglasses.

In a new interview with diversityKravitz, 59, explained why he doesn't mind breaking a sweat on the look that only he can pull off.

The “American Woman” crooner said he's usually on the go, so he works out wherever he can, and that often requires him to skip a wardrobe change before hitting the weights.

“I come from somewhere or I’m going somewhere [before the gym]. And I just don't care. I will come over, I have 45 minutes, we will get there and I will run to where I want to go,” he said in the article published on Tuesday.

“So I don’t do it for effect. I didn’t do that to say, ‘Oh, let me just be so different and wear leather pants and glasses.’ No, I’m just coming in off the street.”

As for the fans who were wondering about it Sweat factor Kravitz revealed that his solution is to skip the leather pants on cardio days.

“I always work out in leather pants or jeans and boots and whatever — unless I'm doing cardio,” he said. “When I do cardio, of course I wear sweatpants because I'm going to sweat everywhere. But when I lift weights, I don’t sweat as much.”

Kravitz shut down the fitness experts who questioned the effectiveness of his workouts in such an unconventional ensemble.

“I know what I'm doing and my coach knows what he's doing. And I know my body and what my body does and what it can do and how it feels and everything is fine. I’ve trained with elite athletes, I’ve trained with football players, NFL and NBA stars,” he said. “I have trained with MLB stars, wrestlers and boxers. I played with everyone. I won't name any names, but they are all people you would know. And they will tell you that I train very seriously.”

Kravitz also recalled the time “big athletes” made fun of him for “wearing jeans, a belt and boots” before heading to the gym with his trainer Dodd Romero.

“It's funny because I remember one time after a tour, I was taking the tour bus to the gym and visiting my trainer, Dodd Romero, who's the guy in the gym [viral leather pants] Video I've been working with for over 25 years and these great athletes saw me come in and my coach said, 'He's going to train with us,'” he shared. “And they all started laughing.”

The “Hunger Games” star later said he humiliated the critics after “destroying” them during training.

“Because I was wearing jeans, a belt, boots and the shirt I was wearing and they said, 'We're training with this little rock star guy?' Like they were making fun of me. And I destroyed it. And they didn’t see it coming.”

Despite the mixed reactions to the viral video shared on April 9, many of his fans praised the rock legend's look as “The rockiest shit ever” And “so Lenny.”
