The newest football transfer from Nebraska wants to move to the conference

The Nebraska football team's last official entry in the transfer portal could involve a move to a conference rival. Ru'Quan Buckley takes an officer with him Visiting Michigan State this weekend and it appears the visit also provides a clue as to why the Huskers lost the lineman at the last possible moment.

Buckley takes a trip to see what Michigan State has to offer. According to Rivals' Allen TrieuThe visit will allow Buckley to tour a school near his hometown. The The defensive lineman became an offensive lineman is originally from the Grand Rapids, Michigan area.

The Spartans, who also targeted the former 3-star prospect when the Nebraska football team won that particular recruiting battle, now have another chance. Under the leadership of new head coach Jonathan Smiththey could possibly bring in Buckley.

According to Trieu, there is another reason why Buckley is looking toward Michigan State after leaving Nebraska. While Matt Rhule and Co. felt he could be a better fit for the Huskers on the offensive side of the ball, the Spartans are reportedly looking to bring the player in as a defensive lineman.

Last year, in his old place, Buckley appeared in eight games including a quarterback rush and a solo tackle.

Oddly enough, Buckley is just the latest former Nebraska football player to transfer to a school in Michigan. He is also the second Husker to transfer to Michigan State. Wide receiver Alante Brown joined the Spartans after leaving the Cornhuskers last year.

Linebacker Ernest Hausmann also moved from Nebraska shortly after Matt Rhule took over as head coach. Hausmann ended up with the Michigan Wolverines, but returned to the transfer portal after a successful season with the Wolverines.

With Buckley set to face Michigan State this weekend, it looks like the former Nebraska football player will soon be getting his new school.
