KEY HIGHLIGHTS

  • LSG will field 13 players against KKR
  • Yudhvir Singh replaced Mohsin Khan
  • LSG will use the impact player rule in the second inning

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 clash between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) witnessed a rare feat as the home team was able to field not just one but two players from their bench at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

Before the mandatory deployment of the batting player, the LSG was able to replace the pacer Mohin Khan with Yudhvir Singh in the first inning of the game. This means LSG will play the game with a total of 13 players as they will likely bring either Arshin Kulkrani or an impact sub later in the day when they go out to bat.

Why was the LSG allowed to make substitutions without using impact players?

The incident occurred because Mohsin's removal from the starting XI was a forced substitution and Yudhvir was substituted due to a concussion. Mohsin injured himself while attempting a catch in the 12th over of the game Sunil Narine from the bowling of Ravi Bishnoi.
