Apple's new LGBTQ+ Pride wallpaper and watch face have been revealed

TL;DR

  • Apple has unveiled its 2024 LGBTQ+ Pride wallpaper and watch face with dynamic, colorful lights that respond to user input.
  • Users will be able to get their hands on these additions when iOS 17.5, iPadOS 17.5 and watchOS 10.5 launch – possibly next Monday.
  • The company will also sell a matching Apple Watch Pride Edition Braided Solo Loop starting May 22nd.

Every May, Apple prepares for LGBTQ+ Pride Month by releasing new wallpapers, watch faces, and matching watch bands. This year is no different, as the Cupertino company has just unveiled the 2024 editions, which will soon be available on the latest iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches.

In a Newsroom post, Apple announced that the 2024 LGBTQ+ Pride wallpaper and watch face will be included in iOS 17.5, iPadOS 17.5 and watchOS 10.5. Although the company hasn't specified exactly when these operating systems will be available, next Monday would be a safe bet.

As for the design, the iPhone/iPad wallpaper spells out the word “Pride” in bright letters. When a user unlocks their device, the color beams move accordingly. The same vibrant colors trace the numbers on the Apple Watch's face, moving according to the user's wrist movement.

Apart from these digital goods, the iPhone maker has also introduced a matching braided solo loop for the Apple Watch Pride Edition. US customers can order it starting May 22nd for $99. This new band is expected to be available in 41mm and 45mm sizes and is designed for the Apple Watch Series 4 and newer models.

Apple states: “With this Pride Collection, Apple is proud to continue its support of LGBTQ+ advocacy organizations whose efforts create positive change, including ILGA World, a global association dedicated to advancing the rights of LGBTQ+ people worldwide; and the Human Rights Campaign, a global advocacy group committed to ensuring that all LGBTQ+ people are treated as full and equal citizens.”
