Apple iPad Event 2024: Watch Apple introduce new iPads here

We're still just over a month away from WWDC, but Apple has quietly joined in on another event. Morning, May 7 at 7am PT/10am ET, the company will unveil the latest additions to the iPad lineup. According to the rumor mill, this list includes: a new iPad Pro, iPad Air, Apple Pencil and a keyboard case.

What's even more surprising is that the event may also see the unveiling of the new M4 chip, just over six months after the company unveiled three new M3 chips in one fell swoop. Why the quick silicone refresher? First of all, the word on the street is that Apple launched the M3 later than expected (likely due to supply chain issues), forcing the company to unveil all three chips at the same event.

Combine that with the fact that Microsoft is rumored to be launching its own third-party chips at Build in late May, and you start to understand why the company decided not to wait. An announcement might be even more urgent considering that the Microsoft/ARM chips are said to offer “industry-leading performance” – an obvious slap across the bow to Apple. Could a new chip also mean new Macs? That would be a short refresh cycle for the current crop, but it's certainly not out of the question.

What seems certain, however, is a new iPad Pro with an OLED display, a 12.9-inch iPad Air and new gestures for the Apple Pencil. Expect too a lot of AI chatter. It's 2024, after all. You can join us live at the link below and stay tuned to TechCrunch for the latest news.
