The South Jersey indie film is receiving international attention

Killer Exthe latest film from the acclaimed director Jim Townshas been sold out since its theatrical release in February 2024. With over 1,000 tickets sold and three sold-out screenings, Jose Luis Torres II and the rest of the cast are making waves and waves in the independent film space.

New Jersey-based international martial artist Grandmaster Jose Luis Torres II makes his big-screen acting debut playing Victor, an altruistic, clever and powerful ex-assassin turned family man who is forced back into his former life when his ex shows up with him Lots of murderers after her. Torn between love for his family and the desire to protect his ex, Victor Reyes tries to walk a fine line, preserving his integrity and reputation while ensuring that the woman he once loved does not is killed.

I had the opportunity to visit Jose at one of his premieres last month and it truly is a must-see film. The realistic fight scenes and laugh-out-loud moments make me excited for what's to come in Killer Ex 2. From the film itself to the conduct of the screenings, I was thoroughly impressed from start to finish and of course made sure to get my autograph from the latest notable actor to hit theaters.

“Killer Ex” was filmed at various locations in South Jersey and features many local artists as well as martial arts film icons such as Mohammad (Michel) Qissi And William Christopher Fordtogether with the “Killer Ex” herself, actress Elena Churinova. With her witty demeanor and uncompromising attitude, Churinova brings grace and charm to the screen and pays family man Reyes a refreshing compliment.

The fourth screening of Killer Ex takes place June 14th at RC Reading Movies 11 and IMAX in Reading, PA. They're upping the ante with a VIP event featuring some of the film's most memorable actors. Connect Jose Luis Torres II (Winner), Bill Pugh (Steven), Chase Mullarkey (Nico) and Connor Mullarkey (Sage) at 7:00 p.m. for an intimate filming experience.

Also announced this month, the The cast of Killer Ex will take the show overseas in the second half of the year. With premieres scheduled in the Caribbean and Europe, “Killer Ex” is quickly climbing the charts as Torres becomes known to film lovers as the “Latin Dragon” in this must-see martial arts film. Killer Ex is presented Trinidad & Tobago on Friday, August 9th and in Rotterdam, Netherlands on November 8th.

Main character Jose Torres is a 9th degree Tang Soo Do black belt and decorated martial artist from Edgewater Park, New Jersey. His martial arts career began in 1982 under master William Hamilton. Over 40 years later, Torres enjoyed great success, including the opening of The Team Torres Martial Arts franchiseafter-school programs for youth, the production of international and national martial arts events and much more.

As a martial arts master, father of three, and college football coach, Victor Reyes' role was apparently written with Torres in mind.
