Here's how the 2024 NCAA DI Women's Golf Championships will work

The regional championships will take place May 6-8, followed by the championship finals May 17-22 in Carlsbad, California.

Regional play will feature six 54-hole regional competitions to determine participants for the championship finals. In each region, 12 teams and six individuals who are not part of those teams will compete. The bottom five teams and the individual players who are not part of these teams advance to the final. Starting in 2024, regional champion awards will be given to the team champions.

In the championship final, all 30 teams and six individuals complete 54 holes of stroke play. After 54 holes of competition, the top 15 teams, along with the top nine individual players, advance for another day of stroke play to determine the top eight teams for the match play competition and the 72-hole stroke play individual champion. The top eight teams after 72 holes of play are divided into a group, with the number 1 playing against the number 8, the number 2 against the number 7 and the number 3 against the number 6. The number 4 seed plays against the number 4 seed in match play Number 5 seeded player.

There are five points in total, with one point being awarded for each individual game. The winning teams advance to the semi-finals and then the final. The first team to win three points in the team game advances or, in the event of the final, is declared national champion.

History of championships

The Wake Forest women defeated Southern California to win the 2023 DI Women's Golf National title. Rose Zhang of Stanford won the 2023 individual title, becoming the first consecutive NCAA individual champion. Full championship history can be found below:
