MS Dhoni's fan base is quite famous and even after his international retirement, fans across India continue to shower him with immense love and respect. According to reports that IPL 2024 could be Dhoni's last season in the competition, spectators flocked to the stadiums and the cheers were almost thunderous whenever the former captain of the Indian cricket team came out to bat. Over the years, Dhoni has been an integral part of popular culture and it looks like he now has a connection to the famous 'Baahubali' franchise. During an event for the animated series Baahubali: Crown of Blood in Hyderabad, director and series producer SS Rajamouli was asked about the similarity between the design of Amarendra Baahubali – one of the protagonists – and Dhoni. Rajamouli's reply was a moment of pride for Dhoni fans.

“The facial design of Bahubali characters is the same as that of Dhoni. Is this because you love MS Dhoni?”

“Probably character creators are also his fans like me,” replied Rajamouli.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni surprised everyone when he came out to bat in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against the 9th-ranked Punjab Kings. Seeing Shardul Thakur come in front of Dhoni to bat in the game left many fans and pundits stunned.

Former Indian cricketers like Irfan Pathan and Harbhajan Singh also launched a vehement attack on the wicket-keeper-batter over this decision, suggesting that he shouldn't even be a part of the team if he wants to bat so low in the order. However, it has now been reported that the reason for Dhoni's late arrival is injury.

According to a report in Times of India, Dhoni is suffering from a torn muscle in his leg which prevents him from running on the field for too long. Therefore, the veteran cricketer is not interested in leaving to bat for CSK too early as running between wickets is a problem for him.
