MW3 May 8 patch notes: Progression fixes, ranked play updates, and more

The May 8th Modern Warfare 3 patch includes numerous bug fixes for weapon prestige camouflages, ranked match adjustments, and more.

Season 3 Reloaded released a week ago and offers players plenty of content to munch on, such as weapon prestige camouflages, new maps, and more.

The latest MW3 patch has finally fixed the issues players have been having with these camouflages since launch, and ranked play has also been updated with new restrictions.

Patch notes for the May 8th MW3 update

Multiplayer

stability

  • Fixed a crash that could occur after completing the challenge.

UIX

  • Troubleshooting
    • Hardcore Quick Play no longer displays an incorrect “Free Trial” tag.
    • The Weekly Challenge countdown timer will no longer display an invalid time as the Midseason Update approaches.
    • Fixed overlapping weapon images in the HUD when two melee weapons are equipped.

Progression

  • The maximum weapon level requirement for Weapon Prestige camouflages is now consistently applied as intended.
  • Challenges that involve the use of Stim no longer require at least 50% recovery to progress.
  • Players who previously unlocked the Binary Morality event camouflage will now have the ability to equip it again.

cards

  • Skidgrow
    • Added collision to prevent players from reaching an exploitable location on the roof.

Modes

  • Accompany
    • Fixed an issue resulting in poor performance and lack of functionality when joining a match.
    • The lights on the MAW don't seem to come off as the game progresses.
    • Implemented various fixes for match timer inconsistencies.
    • Care Package Crates are now destroyed upon collision with the MAW.

Advantages

  • Commando gloves
    • Reloading will no longer be canceled when moving when the Auto Tactical Sprint setting is enabled.

equipment

  • In Hardcore game modes, the minimap is now displayed in the HUD while an EMD locator is trained on an enemy.

Ranked play

  • The Scratch 20-L Suppressor attachment has been restricted.
  • EMD mining equipment has been restricted.
  • Field upgrade for improved vision goggles has been restricted.

Zombies

UIX

  • Completing the Calling Card Prestige 9 Mastery Challenge will display the correct title “Let 'Em Have It!” is now displayed.
  • Fixed a bug where splash notifications would appear blank after completing Armory unlocks and events.

Play style

  • Dark Aether Rift
    • All squads can now contribute zombie kills to Relic Attunement.
    • The kill requirements to complete Relic Attunement have been reduced.
    • Fixed a bug that caused the final obelisk to activate earlier than intended, breaking the story sequence.
  • Fixed a reload inconsistency that occurred after Pack-a-Punch with the JAK Wardens Conversion Kit on the Lockwood Mk2.
  • Fixed a bug that caused Miracle Weapons to appear as common gray rarity instead of gold rarity in a Dark Aether Rift.
  • Fixed a bug that caused players to get stuck in off-map locations after being grabbed by a Mimic.
  • Fixed an issue in Rainmaker's Fortress where the mortar AI was incorrectly targeting players with an intact Sergeant's Beret disguise.

Progression

  • Fixed an issue where completing one squad's attunement would prematurely end another squad's attunement.
  • The launcher camo challenges for MWII weapons have been adjusted to make them easier to complete.
