New horror film from the killer's perspective gets a near-perfect Rotten Tomatoes score

The new slasher click In a violent nature is receiving critical acclaim with its early reviews. The horror film is scheduled to hit theaters on May 31st and currently has a high score of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes.



From filmmaker Chris Nash, In a violent nature has a somewhat traditional slasher film concept with a silent killer targeting teenagers in the wilderness. One big change, however, is that the film is largely told from the killer's perspective rather than the victims' point of view. It's a twist that has captivated critics, with most of them on Rotten Tomatoes In a violent nature great praise, which leads to an almost perfect result on the review aggregator website.

A new horror film with a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes has received the backing of genre legend Stephen King.

In a violent nature is clearly one of the best horror films of 2024,” writes Sunshine State Cineplex critic Alan French. Kelly McClure of Salon.com said of the film, “The grossest and most elaborate murder scenes I've ever seen in my life all came together seamlessly,” where in other films a similar mess might fail amidst the chaos. It feels classic and completely new at the same time.”


Another glowing review from critic Dolores Quintana states: “In a violent nature is the slasher you've been waiting for – captivating, innovative, with a sense of humor and an aura of the grave.”

The official summary for In a violent nature reads: “When a medallion is removed from a collapsed fire tower in the forest where the rotting corpse of Johnny, a vengeful spirit spurred by a terrible 60-year-old crime, is buried, his body is reanimated and hell-bent on it “To get him back.” The undead golem tracks down the group of vacationing teenagers responsible for the theft and systematically slaughters them one by one to get him back – and anyone who stands in his way.”


In a violent nature will hit theaters on May 31, 2024, courtesy of IFC Films. The unrated film will be released for streaming on Shudder later this year. Prior to the film's theatrical release, numerous lobby cards were released to promote its release with an old-school horror feel.
